Ravi Paranjape foundation, established in early 1998. 

Foundation honors senior artists and tributes their valuable contribution to the art and the society. One of the other goals of the foundation is to maintain unity in the field of visual arts, as also that of the entire cultural arena.

The foundation proposes to encourage every effort to revive the spirit of harmony in visual arts, thus bringing it closer to other art forms such as Indian classical music, dance and literature. Foundation is ambitious to produce an 'art literate' audience in the society who will act as a pressure group safeguarding the accord in art. The Foundation also aims at enriching the field of art by encouraging and guiding budding artists striving to express themselves.
 

With the 'Gunijan Kala Puraskar' presented in loving remembrance of Ravi Paranjape's father & idol Late. Shri. K. R. Paranjape,  the Foundation honors senior artists and tributes their invaluable contribution to the art and the society.  A citation along with a cash reward  is presented to the individuals nominated by the members of the board of the 'Ravi Paranjape foundation'.

Late Shri. K. R. Paranjape, affectionately known as 'Anna', served a long career as a teacher producing a crop of students who grew up to be outstanding contributors in their respective fields. Apart from his career as a school teacher and a college lecturer, Anna put significant efforts in extensive research & study of Indian scripts.

 

Govindagrajanchi Goodhgeete' a research oriented book about the works of a legendary Indian poet 'Govindagraj', a paper based on Anna's study of Indian traditional deities are few of Anna's well known published works. Anna was a poet and an artist himself.


Along with the career and research, Anna relished his interests in painting, Indian classical music and cricket as well! Anna's personality made a deep and lasting impact on his students as well as three children of his own who cherish the heirloom of talent, principles and philosophy Anna passed on to them.

Year 2002 Gunijan Kala puraskar was presented to the two renowned senior artists from Mumbai, India,  Shri. Kamal Shedge and Shri. Baal Thakur.  Shri. Kamal Shedge is a Graphic designer, Type designer, Portraitist, and a Script specialist. Shri. Baal Thakur is a very senior illustrator with a unique style. He is also a Graphic Designer in his own right. The year 2002 awards were presented by well known orthopedic Surgen, an art lover and the Chief Guest of the ceremony Dr. Arvind Bawdekar. Dr. Bawdekar is also a former student of Late. Shri. K. R. Paranjape. Foundation is also proud to have renowned theatrical producer and a famous photographer Shri. Mohan Wagh as the guest of honor at the function. The function was held on October 19, 2002

K.R. Paranjape Gunijan Kala Puraskar for year 2000 was awarded to two of the greatest artists from Pune, India; Late Dr. Bhayyasaheb Omkar and the famous cartoonist S.D. Phadnis. The citation and the cash reward was handed over by the chief guest and well known Artist Madhav Satawlekar. The function was presided by director of CAG, Mr. Gopi Kukde.
 

The Foundation celebrated it's first event on May 10,1998. Phenomenal landscape artist Shivajirao Tupe was honored with the first 'K.R. Paranjape Gunijan Kala Puraskar' on behalf of the Ravi Paranjape Foundation. The Guest of Honor 'Director General of Police, Shri Arvind Inamdar', handed the award to Shri Shivajirao Tupe. In his exceptionally eloquent speech Shri Inamdar stressed the importance of various Art forms that promote the spirit of peace and harmony in the society.
